Sid Kirkham is a local artist. Please visit the gallery to see his work.

Sid Kirkham began painting in his early days but it was only when he was made redundant at 60 that he began living his dream of becoming a full-time artist at his studio at home in Staffordshire. Now 65, Sid has become one of the biggest selling artist’s in the region after being dubbed The Potteries answer to Lowry.

Sales of Sids watercolours have gone through the roof in demand after holding his first exhibition at the Artbay Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent, a real breakthrough was being featured on BBC Midlands Today where his work was praised by Nick Owen the chairman of Luton Town FC and his Lowryesque description of Sids work has now stuck.

Sids paintings feature scenes from the smoky industrial times of the 1950s & 60s, and serve an affectionate portrayal of the dimly-lit-back-streets showing the slow trudge to work of potbank operatives of the time and whilst keeping a glow to his paintings which have enticed a massive following.

His original and signed limited edition prints of his atmospheric football ground paintings are becoming highly collectable and all Sid’s work is endorsed by the England goal keeping legend Gordon Banks and come with a digitally signed certificate of originality.
